What is the current UK law on DPF filtration systems?
Since 2009 it has been compulsory by law for all diesel vehicles of any class to be fitted with a DPF, and therefore is required in order to pass its MOT inspection. Failure to fit a DPF, or the removal of a DPF for any reason renders the vehicle illegal to drive on the roads.
Why do diesel vehicle’s DPF get blocked and how can I get its properly cleaned?
My DPF light has turned on what does it mean?
Usually with most diesel vehicles if this happens you should drive for about 30 minutes on a motorway and hope for it to go out. If the light does not go out after 30 minutes then it is likely that your DPF has an issue due to blockage, and you should get it properly cleaned.
My vehicle won’t run at all due to a blocked DPF can this be fixed?
Yes in the vast majority of situations, if the filter is so heavily blocked with PM it can be successfully cleaned by our technicians at Bingley MOT and Service’s Centre.
Are there any occasions when a DPF filter cannot be unblocked and cleaned properly?
There may be extreme cases where a DPF is too damaged, or has been customised improperly. Also some cases where a DPF has been replaced with an inferior quality cheaper DPF with poor quality ceramic interiors, these can be irreparable and collapse.
Do you actually remove my DPF filter to clean it?
Yes in most cases we completely remove the whole filter from your vehicle unit so that a full 100% clean can be accomplished efficiently.

What is a DPF?
