Reducing carbon emissions and that of other elements harmful to the environment such as heavy metals, ammonium, sulphates and other complex chemical toxins is a dirty business, and correctly and comprehensively cleaning DPF filters is what we do best at Bingley Service and MOT Centre.
Whilst many places will attempt to perform a makeshift type of fluid cleansing in order to de-clog, and clean your DPF, they will generally only be able to remove around 2% of all Particulate Materials (PMs). Worse still some will actually split the DPF filter apart to clean it and then re-join it before the vehicle has gone through its MOT, thereby making it dangerously illegal.
Even though a missing DPF will cause a vehicle to fail its MOT, some will completely remove the DPF knowing that the vehicle will probably pass its MOT smoke test anyway.
Such dangerous practices are commonplace but driving the vehicle then makes it illegal.
